Chairman Takano Statement on Trump’s 2020 Budget Proposal

WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mark Takano (CA-41) issued the following statement on President Trump’s proposed 2020 budget:

“With significant cuts to the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services, and so many more, the President’s proposed budget is cause for concern.

Additionally, VA is charged with providing the best healthcare possible for our veterans—that means ensuring we’re investing in the research and infrastructure needs for our increasingly diverse veterans population. But with significant reductions in medical research and infrastructure funding—both historically underfunded areas— the proposed budget will hurt our veterans.

As we learn more about the implications of this budget, one thing is clear: we need to do more to ensure our veterans get the care they earned and deserve and we must invest in domestic programs that support veterans and their families. This proposed budget puts that care and support at risk.”
